Begin your dig

What was the core priority for your place twenty years ago? Or ten? Explore the key care factors that have shaped flows of investment over time.

Add the skill to your agent

It tells your agent to read a place in layers, oldest first: the priorities, what they were trying to look after, what followed, and what quietly lapsed.

Read the skill file before you add it. Everything in it is a draft: change it, and tell us what you changed.

Name your place

Build your line of enquiry

  1. What was the core priority for your place twenty years ago?

Using the begin-the-dig skill, find the core priorities set for your place around twenty years ago. Quote the documents that set them, with dates, who set them, and source links.

  2. And ten years ago?

Now do the same for your place around ten years ago. What stayed, what changed, and what disappeared from the priorities?

  3. What were the key care factors?

Across those priorities for your place, what were the key care factors: what were the plans trying to look after? Use the documents’ own words where you can.

  4. How have flows of investment followed them?

For each care factor in your place, list what followed in date order: approvals, budgets, grants, capital works and private investment. Where did money or permission go that no priority asked for?

  5. What quietly lapsed?

Which commitments for your place were never withdrawn but have no record of being met, reviewed or reported on? List each with the date it was made and where you looked.
